Weekly Update! March 15-19, 2010

I will begin to provide weekly updates here on my website. This will be good practice for me as I balance lesson planning and parent communication. Let's hope I keep it up!

This shortened week (Teacher Planning Day on Monday, 2 Hour Late Start on Wednesday) will be full of exciting anticipation and adventure! Our pilgrim colonies finished up their mapping assignments last week, will be raising their flags, and loading up their ships with supplies. Setting sail for the New World is so close we can practically taste the salty ocean water!

Read-a-thon will be wrapping up on Friday with a fun afternoon full of reading! We will be dressing in our cozy clothes to read comfort: Don't let your student forget their pajamas and pillows!

Last week everyone worked hard at their Mayflower character autobiographies, which most of the class finished up on Friday. We will be transforming those papers into speeches. Please encourage your student to be creative and take risks with their speech. We are looking for exciting storytelling and informative facts in our speeches.

Report cards come out at the end of this week, as well as a letter from myself to the families. The past month and a half has been a treat as I am having fun teaching the students!
