Demonstrating knowledge on exams
May 1 - 5, 2017

Congratulations to all of those who worked hard on the Lion King musical! It was such a wonderful performance, and I'm so glad I was able to experience it. In other news regarding Neighborhood House, we will not have any other trips to volunteer this year. Jimmy, the volunteer coordinator, had his last day at Neighborhood House last Friday. He is moving to the east coast, and because of his absence, we will not be able to schedule another time to serve. I am glad we were able to go multiple times earlier this year, though! Make it a great week, everyone!

Person of the Week

None!

Topics to Talk About at Home

On Friday, the students picked topics for their Middle Ages Research Paper! The students are only allowed to check out one book about their topic from the school library, so please discuss ideas for where to find other books (i.e., public library, book store, etc.) in order to research facts and information. More details can be found in the purple info packet, which should be in student binders or accordion folders. Only about half of the students got a parent signature. :-(  Did your child forget to ask you to sign their purple packet???

Measuring Academic Progress (MAP)

Spring MAP begins in a few weeks. Just a reminder, MAP is the standardized testing used at West Hills to track student growth as they continually learn more. To ensure results that accurately reflect student knowledge, it is important that each student has plenty of rest, has a good breakfast and lunch, and does not have interruptions (i.e. doctor appointment) during the time of their tests. Let me know if you have any questions about the following schedule for our class:
   - Monday, May 15th, 2:00-3:00pm
   - Tuesday, May 16th, 2:10-3:00pm
   - Wednesday, May 17th, 2:00-3:00pm
   - Thursday, May 18th, 2:10-3:00pm

Other School-wide Events

Be sure to read the WHCS Weekly News to learn more about other school-wide events at West Hills Christian School. It is emailed to the entire school regularly on Friday afternoons. Thanks so much!
