Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and His Boy

The Horse and His Boy, by C.S. Lewis, is the third book in the reading order of the Chronicles of Narnia series. Shasta is a boy who is a slave in Calormen (a country to the south of Narnia). He seems to have no future whatsoever, until one day his life changes completely. He meets a horse that can talk! Shasta learns that Bree, the horse, feels just as trapped as he does. So they decide to escape together and journey north to the distant land of Narnia. Along the way, they encounter two other escaping travelers (a girl and her horse) and must overcome many obstacles that stand in their way, including a Calormene army's plot to invade Narnia.

This book is a fun as it is exciting. I mean, honestly...how would you react if you met a horse that talks? C.S. Lewis has a lot of fun with these situations and characters, and he does so with humorous wit. It is such an amusing book!
