Progress Reports & Missing Work

Thanks to an extra boost of volunteer help this week, all papers have been corrected, and my gradebook is up-to-date! On Wednesday, February 13th, the 2nd trimester progress reports will be emailed home. I am planning on sending home the missing work lists on Monday. Because many students have been absent recently, and the missing work lists are longer than normal, progress reports may not accurately reflect the student's understanding of the material. Please continue checking the homework calendar on my website, and have missing work turned in as soon as possible.

Honored Guest Morning

This Friday, February 15th will be a great time for our students to show their guest around the school that they work so hard at each and every day. RSVPs are not necessary. I'm looking forward to meeting all of the visitors on that day! If you have any questions about the event, please let me know.

Subscribe to whcs.org

I created a tutorial video for the school website this past week to show how to subscribe to the News & Events page and the Athletics page at whcs.org. If you haven't subscribed to the West Hills website, please stay informed by clicking on the video to the right to watch the steps to subscribe by email. Thank you!

Student Google Accounts

Last week was an exciting time for the students, as they logged in to their new WHCS Student Google Accounts! Students must remember the importance of keeping passwords private. I have put a link on the left sidebar of my website for students to directly log in to their student email. They are also encouraged to subscribe to these newsletters in the student section of the Subscribe by Email page. Just so parents know, I have the ability to reset student passwords if I need to. I will continue the conversation about student Google accounts as the year progresses, so stay tuned for more info. Let's all be responsible with this wonderful technological gift and use it in a way that glorifies Jesus!

LO's

The white board in the back of my room changed last Friday, as many of the students discovered right away. I added "Learning Objectives" (LO's) alongside each subject. My goal as a teacher is to reinforce learning with the students by reviewing the objective of each lesson to make sure we are heading in the right direction academically each day. Parents, it would be great if you ask your child to recite at least one of the LO's each day to see if they remember what they are learning!
