Reading Buddies with Mrs. Mickels' class
September 25 - 29, 2017

We have been enjoying Reading Buddies with Mrs. Mickel's 1st graders so far this year! It is a great opportunity for our class to be leaders to these kids and develop relationships with them. Check out some Reading Buddies photos here, and thanks to Nash for taking the pictures! We are all looking forward to another positive week of learning and growth. Make it a great week, everyone!

Topics to Talk About at Home

Has your child memorized their reading buddy's name? What is something they have in common with their buddy? Please talk about what it means to be a good leader (rather than a bad leader) to their first grade reading buddy. How can they also be a good leader among their own friends in fifth grade as well?

Field Trip: Tryon Creek State Park

Important reminder to the parents and students about the upcoming field trip on Friday, October 6th. Please remember to wear clothes and shoes that are ideal for hiking in the wilderness, and be prepared if it rains! Tryon Creek State Park is a very large park with long trails, so we will be traveling a relatively long distance on foot. Wear hiking boots or tennis shoes, and depending on the weather forecast, remember your rain jacket. Additionally, we will be returning to school by lunch time, so we will not be bringing our lunches with us. Let me know if you have any questions!

Other School-wide Events

Be sure to read the WHCS Weekly News to learn more about other school-wide events at West Hills Christian School. It is emailed to the entire school regularly on Fridays. Thanks so much!
